2014

I love to read...love it! But since grandchildren and facebook and blogs, I have put reading on the back shelf. I miss it. So, I am making a list of books that I'd like to read in 2014. Some of the books are real life stories. Some are fiction. I probably will check most of them out from the library, but, I am reading one now on my IPad. I much prefer turning the pages of a book and I LOVE a library! Here are some of the books I want to read. Do you have a favorite you want to add to my list? I would love to hear what you are reading or plan to read. I often get my book ideas from YOU, my readers!

  • The Wednesday Letters by: Jason Wright
  • What Alice Forgot by: Liane Moriarty
  • Rena's Promise:Two Sisters in Auschwitz
  • Coming Home by: Karen Kingsbury (reading now)
  • Unbroken by: Laura Hillenbrand
  • Killing Jesus by: Bill O'Reilly

There are more books that I would like to read this year and I will add to this list as I think of them! Share some that you just COULD NOT put down!

Christmas 2013 was overwhelming to me. That's not how it's suppose to be. Christmas 2014 will be different. I have a plan. Already. I will order my card envelopes in a few weeks. I have been doing a 5x7 picture card so that's what I'll stick with this year too. I plan to address the cards by the end of March. I know there are a few people who may move and I will order extra envelopes for those few people. I also plan to have all my shopping done and gifts wrapped by December 1. All of it. My people will need to give me their lists in October! I want to have our family picture taken in early November and my cards ready to mail on December 1. I have a few other plans to get ready early that I will share later. I want to spend the month of December the way it should be spent. Loving and caring for others and making Jesus famous.

Hubs has had the flu since last Friday. Yesterday, on Day Five, he started turning the corner! He did not get the flu shot this year. I'll bet he will next year. He had a headache, body aches and 102 temp. for four to five days. Pretty miserable. There are a lot of people in our area with the flu. Not fun.

Soooo, what are YOU up to in 2014 so far?

I love to read also! My husband just finished reading "Unbroken" and he would highly recommend it. I read "The Genesis Record" by Dr. Henry M. Morris and I thought it was an excellent book, if you like the Bible and science together.

So sorry for your husband. So many have that nasty flu and one has to feel sorry for them. Hope he is soon on the mend.

I am with you on books AND Christmas! I love to read and noticed how few books I was reading a few years ago. I have been working on that for a few years now and finally feel back in the reading groove. I read Unbroken from your list and it is wonderful. I have Killing Jesus but haven't read it yet. I am currently reading Nearing Home by Billy Graham and The Tenderness of Wolves for my book club. The classic I have going is Huck Finn. ( I always read a little bit of a classic in the morning after my devotional time).

My goal every year is to have all of the shopping and decorating done by the first Sunday in advent. Didn't get there this year and I could tell in my spirit I hope to do better in 2014.

Good luck to both of us!

Christmas 2013 for me was spent in full panic mode, trying to get accomplished all that I felt needed to be done to make the season "merry and bright" for my family. All my rushing around left me so stressed out that I found myself crying from frayed nerves and sheer exhaustion one afternoon at the check-out in Walmart (God sent me a lovely angel in the form of a cashier who prayed for me on the spot!).

NEVER AGAIN WILL I LEAVE CHRIST OUT OF CHRISTMAS! Christmas it all about Jesus and the miracle of His birth - a baby who came to save the world, to give undeserved grace, mercy and salvation to someone like me. My Christmas 2014 will have Jesus at the head of it ALL. If He is at the head, then my heart and my house will surely follow :)

N~ So very sorry Poppy has the flu. Praying......It is bad stuff.

I love your plans for next Christmas. I must start a plan of action as I am STILL getting over Christmas. I had too many dinners, events, etc. at my house, and it just about did me in. Less decorating is first on my future list! :)

Unbroken was a 'can't put down book for me. I haven't read any others that I couldn't put down, lately. I joined Book Bub to get free books and cheap prices on my ipad, but DON'T BOTHER. I download many and some for .99 and 2.99, but find most are not worth reading. I will not use it anymore!!!

Poppie read Killing Jesus. He, read me some passages, some, which, I took issue with, but overall, it was a pretty good book.

Will there be a Pearl Event this year? I haven't seen that Sibi has mentioned it. My high school friends and I are going to FL for our annual reunion. It is the end of February, so that will likely interfere with anything else.

Blessings to you and all your family! Please let me know if you are over this way!
