The Zig to My Zag

If you never read another one of my blog posts, read this one.

Six years ago I read this article.

It's been on our refrigerator and in our hearts since then.

It is quite possibly the sweetest article I have ever read.

Since then, hubby and I have referred to each other as

The Zig To My Zag.

Read the article. It's how we feel about each other.

I love all of it. But I especially love two lines:

*Mature love picks up where romantic love leaves off.*

And

*Dad knew the two things mom would most want when she woke up from surgery were her glasses and lipstick, so he had them there for her.*

It's the little things.

Click on the article to read. It's just a few paragraphs.

I'm glad he is the Zig to my Zag. If you have one who is, you are blessed.
Tell me about your love.

I WON!!!!!!!!!!

Lacy, over at Lacy Lately, had a drawing for a Target gift card
and a bag of boiled peanuts........

I WON!!!!!!!!

Thank you Lacy! I can't wait to try the boiled peanuts. The corner of the bag says *The South's Favorite Snack*. Here I am in the heart of the south....and I've never had our favorite snack!

Low Carb?

So, I've been *low carb* for lots of weeks now, and except for three coconut M&M's (which, by the way, are FABULOUS and I WILL eat a whole bag while on vacation), I have pretty much done great. UNTIL Friday night.

Hubby and I went to a little soda shoppe about 30 minutes from where we live. We go occasionally and always love it when we do. It is truly a step back in time. They have so much to choose from...I just couldn't decide!

This is what I had for dinner. No kidding.

One more view, a little closer so you can see all the carbs!
Go ahead, click on the picture!

Back to reality.

Oh Happy Day J!!!

Another special girl. Another birthday.

It's hard to believe we've known this daughter-in-law for less than two years.
We feel like we have loved her forever.

We love the *spunk* J has....and we see she had that spunk WAY before we met her
!

Look who she got it from:

That spunky girl grew up.

She met......
............and married our youngest son, J.
So, on your special day today, J,
we want you to know:
How much we are glad you are a part of us.

How we love being around you.
How good you are for our son.
And how very much we love you.

Happy Birthday!
Your favorite in-laws.

Go wish HER a Happy Day!!

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

Summer Reading

I've actually done a little reading this summer. I've read some great books!!! Two of them were *different* reads for me, as I usually enjoy christian fiction. But, I truly enjoyed these two books.

The first book I read is titled *Left to Tell*. It is an autobiography of a Tutsi woman who lived in a small, cramped bathroom for three weeks, with seven other women. She was trying to escape the Rwandan Holocaust. This is an amazing story of her remaining faithful to God during the very worst of times. Immaculee' Ilibagiza is truly an inspiration and a picture of HOP
E to many.

The next book I read is titled *Same Kind Of Different As Me*. Again, an autobiography. The paths cross of two men from completely different walks of life. Their story is incredible. Ron Hall and Denver Moore's story is both sad and sweet. It will change how you feel about racism, the less fortunate and our God..... who is, by the way, amazing.

I need some ideas of other *good summer reads*. Can you help? I especially love reading christian fiction during my beach vacation in August. I have read most of Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury's books. Can you recommend any others?????????

HANG TEN!!!!!

My dear friend, R, over at The Company She Keeps, tagged me to name ten *unknown* things about me. I don't know if I can think of ten things. But, I'll give it a try.

  1. I always wanted twins.
  2. I never learned to drive a stick shift car.
  3. Love me some brown sugar cinnamon Pop Tarts...with icing!
  4. Chocolate is not on the top of my *sweets* list.
  5. Even if I didn't love my husband, I would never consider divorce.
  6. I don't love animals.
  7. Reading magazines is one of my favorite quiet time activities.
  8. There is only one food I don't like.
  9. I don't like to hear other people tell about a movie, television show or book they read.
  10. I will be forever thankful for running water.

Now I feel like I should explain the ten things above:

  1. Wanted twins. Had #2 and #3 15 months apart. Harder???
  2. I hate that I didn't but hubby never wanted me to mess up a car trying.
  3. Fattening, so I can't have them. But when I splurge.....................
  4. I would much rather have coconut, lemon or cinnamon.
  5. Good thing I love him!!!
  6. I feel bad. I really do. We have a dog. I love him. That's it.
  7. I have a few favorites, but I like a lot of them!!
  8. Oatmeal.
  9. Just tell me the name of it, I will read or watch it. And DON"T tell me your dream!
  10. I worked at a summer camp with water problems. Not pretty.

More about me on my 100 Things About Me post!

It's K's BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!

One of the greatest pleasures hubby and I have ever had was welcoming two new daughters-in-law and one son-in-law to our family. We welcomed *K* into our family almost two years ago officially, but she really became a part of us in 2002. We feel like she has been a part of us forever. And we are glad!!! We know two other parents who love her too and cared about her long before we knew her:
This little doll of a girl grew up.
I wish we had known her then!!

She grew up in the cold north, but I think she has become one of *us* down sout
h now. She even says YALL sometimes!

We are so thankful for the influence K has had in our son B's life. She has stood by him and loved him through a lot of things. We are so grateful and so blessed.

K is a girl who exercises!!! She challenges me to do better. We even ran a 5K together. Well, two of them actually. And would you believe one of them was ON THE MORNING OF HER WEDDING!!!

K is all about family. I love that she sees that as important in her life. I love that she is a fantastic school teacher and that children are precious to her. We call her the *baby hog* cause she is always loving on all the babies. That's okay. When she has babies of her own, we will be hogging them!

K, thank you for loving all of us and for loving our son.
Happy Birthday!
We love you.
Your favorite in-laws!

**Added note:
When she was little, K's sweet dad always told her all the fireworks on the 4th of July were in celebration of her birthday! That's a dad who wanted his girl to feel special!!
