One Last Christmas Post

When my youngest was little, he could not WAIT for the Christmas decorations to come down from the attic. Seriously, he started asking in November how long it was until we could put everything out.

Every year it was his job to put out the nativity scene. He carefully placed each figurine and took his job very
seriously.

So seriously that he labeled the box we kept it in.

I still have that box.

I want to always have it.

He's 28 now.

I wouldn't trade this for the world.

The REASON for all this.......................

Luke 2:6-12 (The Message)

6-7While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel.

An Event for Everyone
8-12There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."

A baby changes everything.

In this case

He changed the world.

SNOW

Here in the part of North Carolina I live in, we see a dusting of snow every year.

A Dusting.

Well, honestly, a couple of times we have had a few inches.

Fast forward to today.

Weatherman is calling for inches.

Like 5-10 inches.

WHAT?

When my daughter lived in PA, they could handle that.

Here in NC, we aren't prepared.

We shut down.

Like for days.

UGH.

Will we have this:

Or this:

Stay tuned.........

BB's and Prayer

Tonight I have my BB's (Beach Buddies) over for Christmas!

Nothing like a group of close friends to celebrate with.

One of my BB's has this precious grandson
.
He is in the hospital with RSV.

If you think about him, pray for him.

He will be fine, but it is so sad to see a little one sick.

Two Little Christmas Girls

The Hands and Feet Of Jesus

A little background info on this post.

A few months ago I ordered cookies from this girl.
She had to ship them a long way and though the cookies tasted GREAT, they were broken. She felt SO bad and was gr
acious enough to send me my $ back. (I did not accept). Fast forward to today. I received two boxes in the mail, FULL of her wonderful cookies.

Just a treat. Quite an unexpected blessing.

The hands and feet of Jesus in the form of cookies.
Not a broken cookie in the bunch. (Her packaging is new and improved).

Isn't God good to us? He gives us unexpected blessings in the most unlikely ways. I pray that I will be open to seeing how I can be His hands and feet.

Christmas is Coming and Where Did My Candle Go?

It's starting to look like Christmas at my house.

I took this picture of my mantle tonight.

When I just loaded it to my blog....

I noticed one of the candles is missing from the
JOY candlesticks.

Back to the drawing board!

OH NO, Somebody Just Said It's Almost CHRISTMAS!

I've been stuck in *babyland* and I haven't done a THING about Christmas!!! I don't have a tree up. I haven't bought my gifts. I am SO far behind. I remember years when I had all my shopping done by December 1. YIKES!!

Today I leave *babyland* for a few days.

I will get my tree up and buy gifts.

But it won't be nearly as fulfi
lling.

How about you? Are you ready?

A Different Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was DIFFERENT this year.

Wonderful.

But Different.

Everyone was *scattered* this year.

And I don't love that.

So, today, we celebrate.

We eat and give thanks.

Some of us will be together.

We are healthy.

We love each other.

We have a new baby.

And we know that in 2010

our faithful prayers will be answered.

And for that

TODAY

We will give thanks.

More tomorrow. Tonight I am tired. I am blessed. And I am so

Very Thankful.

Welcome our precious 8 lb granddaughter.

This was her sister two years ago.
Uncanny how much they look alike.

Thankful this Thanksgiving for this

And so much more.
