The Zig to My Zag

If you never read another one of my blog posts, read this one.

Six years ago I read this article.

It's been on our refrigerator and in our hearts since then.

It is quite possibly the sweetest article I have ever read.

Since then, hubby and I have referred to each other as

The Zig To My Zag.

Read the article. It's how we feel about each other.

I love all of it. But I especially love two lines:

*Mature love picks up where romantic love leaves off.*

And

*Dad knew the two things mom would most want when she woke up from surgery were her glasses and lipstick, so he had them there for her.*

It's the little things.

Click on the article to read. It's just a few paragraphs.

I'm glad he is the Zig to my Zag. If you have one who is, you are blessed.
Tell me about your love.

That was a wonderful article! It really is the little things that are the glue in wonderful marriages. Thanks for this post.

My husband is definitely the zig in my zag. I had been having some trouble with the tops of my feet. Cysts. I went to an orthopedic doctor who told me that I probably needed surgery. I told him I didn't want to go that route. What else could we do. He said aspiration. So they stuck a needle in my foot and had to go to the bone to find the cyst. It was the most painful thing. I said that to say this. I woke up the next morning with an ice pack on my foot. I asked my husband how that happened. He said I was crying in my sleep so he got me the ice pack.

What a beautiful article. Although I always knew how much my parents loved each other, I never realized how much they depended on each other until my father died. I never knew how much my husband and I had our own routine until his cancer. He spent most of one summer in and out of hospitals and rehabs and doing rounds of chemo. I had to develop a new routine. Then when he came home, we had to develop a new routine because our life was different now. I realize that marriage is always changing.

Beautiful! Those are exactly the two things I'd want after surgery...my glasses and lipstick!

What a beautiful article...well worth keeping! That is so the way my Mom and Pop were. They had perfected that dance of marriage, that sway that each knew without even talking about it. I know his heart is aching...and mine aches for him.

That is such a sweet article! I loved it. I can't believe you had three children married in 18 months! Wow! You should win a prize for that. haha

I printed out that sweet article to put it in my files. It reminds me so much of my parents. My Dad is 88 and my Mom is 85 and they are with each other constantly. When one of them dies, the other will be lost. Thanks for sharing that great article! Have a nice week. Love & blessings from NC!

Such a sweet article. I guess that's why those years are called the "Golden Years!" My aunt told me about a year ago when her husband went to be with the Lord, "I think God did everything right except one thing. I think after you've been married 50 years are more, He should have planned for you both to die at the same time!" Of course, she really knows God is perfect and does everything right! I can see now that my husband and I have been married 44 years, how dearer and precious our "mature love" has become. I don't know what I would do without him. Thanks for the wonderful post. Gotta go give my hubby a BIG kiss!Blessings

Thanks so much for sharing that beautiful article. I really feel that same way about my sweet hubby and me. We will have been married 30 years in November and I love the ease of how we are with each other after all this time. Not that everything is always easy, but there is an ease...I think the zig to my zag explains it really well. Thanks again for sharing a really great article.

sweet. i definitely have a zig to my zag! He's my soulmate. We've been together 15 years, since I was 16!
We just recently went on a backpacking trip in the woods for 3 days 2 nights and still thoroughly enjoy each other, laugh and find new things! I love that!
