The first book I read is titled *Left to Tell*. It is an autobiography of a Tutsi woman who lived in a small, cramped bathroom for three weeks, with seven other women. She was trying to escape the Rwandan Holocaust. This is an amazing story of her remaining faithful to God during the very worst of times. Immaculee' Ilibagiza is truly an inspiration and a picture of HOPE to many.
The next book I read is titled *Same Kind Of Different As Me*. Again, an autobiography. The paths cross of two men from completely different walks of life. Their story is incredible. Ron Hall and Denver Moore's story is both sad and sweet. It will change how you feel about racism, the less fortunate and our God..... who is, by the way, amazing.
I need some ideas of other *good summer reads*. Can you help? I especially love reading christian fiction during my beach vacation in August. I have read most of Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury's books. Can you recommend any others?????????

Although I love to read, I haven't read much lately, unless you count magazines in the bathtub. The last book I did read was The Shack and I highly recommend it. It was spiritual and gives a wonderful definition of the holy trinity.
I haven't read either of those, but George read Left to Tell and really enjoyed it.
Right now I have downloaded Handle With Care by Joy Picoult to my Kindle on my iPhone. I just finished reading Very Valentine by Andrianna Trigiani....loved it! Made me want to visit New York and Italy asap!

Even though I don't read a lot of Christian fiction at home, I like to read it on vacation. I like Lisa Samson's books. The first one I read was Quaker Summer. It was about a woman who loved her "stuff" (material possessions). She met two nuns through an accident she had and her life was never the same. All her books have good messages that make you want to help others and love the unlovely. Blessings to you.
The 'Sisterchicks' books ~ basically girlfriends and their traveling adventures. (pretty light and fluffy)
Anything by Debbie Macomber ~ if you like knitting, her Blossom Street series is nice. (I don't knit, but still good)
If you like quilting (I do like it, but don't quilt) Jennifer Chiavernni has a nice series (not Christian, but clean).
"A Slender Thread" by Tracie Peterson is very good ~ about four sisters raised by their grandmother.
Of course, you could go with some old classics, like "Little Women" or "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn."
"Swan House" is a fictionalized book centered around a real life event in Atlanta in the 60s. A group of art patrons were killed in a plane crash in Paris. The author is Elizabeth Musser.

I'm heading to the beach in a couple of days & am hunting a few new books myself. I finished Same Kind of Different as Me & loved it...have read all of Franciene Rivers, love her, and Jodi Picoult books. Picoult books were my beach reads last summer. I LOVED *Plain Truth*, it's an easy, easy read & not as 'stressful' as Handle With Care or My Sister's Keeper (but I liked both of those as well).

I enjoyed reading your blog. Grandchildren are the greatest! We have a few things in common. You might like reading "The Last Girl" it's relaxing reading, can't think of the author. Enjoy your time at the beach.
