E N V Y

We are in a series at church called

SOUL TOXINS.

Today was about envy.

Yikes.

Bob touched on several points. I'll share a few here.

  • "When others are happy, be happy with them." ROMANS 12:15 (Celebrate the successes of other people.)

  •  If you compare yourself with others, you CANNOT win.

  • Envy is an appetite that cannot be satisfied....temporarily maybe.

  • Don't wait until you FEEL like celebrating someone's success.....Celebrate until you FEEL like it.

  • Envy is not about you and me. It's a soul issue. Your problem is with God.  (Ouch.)

  • What if we pray for the people who HAVE what we think we WANT???????

Now I will admit, I've never thought to pray for the people who have what I think I want.
I love that!
I think I'll pray for the people who have this:

Kidding...not kidding:)

Anyway, this envy sermon got me thinking and I thought I'd do an experiment with hubs. I told him I would guess three things I think he is envious of and he could guess three things he thinks I am envious of. It was interesting.

Try it.

Do you struggle with envy?

Do you pray for the people who have what you want?

What a great sermon....I am constantly amazed at gifted and talented preachers and how they open my eyes! Envy is a big issue for me....reading blogs and facebook has never helped with this issue but it has made me try to celebrate for others and push the envy aside.

I am not sure that my husband is envious of anything but your post is going to make me ask :)

Oh, this is so good!!! You made my night, reading this. It's so serious and convicting and thought provoking but funny at the same time. Like Erin and Courtney, I'll be praying for my friends too, the ones who love the gym, are naturally tan and have had time to get a pedicure in the last 6 months.
Really though, I need this so much!! Thank you for sharing!
