A Little Adventure

We live in North Carolina. Our state has a magazine named...you guessed it....OUR STATE. Hubs and I really like it. He reads it every month....cover to cover. We like to try to visit some of the interesting places listed. This month the cover looked like this:

Kalawi Farms/Ben's Ice Cream were featured inside the magazine. The article boasted about their peach ice cream. "The triple-decker peach ice cream cone, made from peaches that have gotten too ripe and soft to sell, attracts people from all over, including two men who flew down in a helicopter from Raleigh last year just for a taste." Well, we didn't fly down in a helicopter, but we did drive down for a taste. It did not disappoint. It may have been the best peach ice cream I have ever had. I didn't take a picture because I was too busy eating it before the heat of the day melted it. But here is a picture of Ben's Ice Cream and Fruit Stand....and hubs!

We couldn't leave there without a few peaches. YUM!

We stopped at a few antique stores on the way back...and we may or may not have purchased something for the twins............

FUN afternoon in North Carolina!

Hi Nonny!
My friend gave me 12 peaches before she left town on Friday and they were so ripe I had to use them asap. I should have made peach ice cream, but instead made peach sorbet. Oh my.... so yummy.
Peach ice cream --- or should I say homemade peach ice cream is my fave!
xx
Thanks for sharing your fun outing.

Fresh, sweet peaches in abundance and some fun antique stores to visit, sound like the perfect way to spend any afternoon.

I think I have told you before that I LOVE North Carolina. Such a wonderful state. Clinton, where my relatives live, Fayettville, the closest bigger town, and Chapel Hill and Raleigh/ Durham, where we have spent many, many days at UNC hospitals with Ian. I always loved to make the 100 mile trip from Fayettville to Chapel Hill. Especially in the fall. All rural...but so calm and peaceful. Wilmington, where I haven't been since I was little. My grandparents lived there, and I have some wonderful memories there. Hope to visit there sometime. NC is made up of such good people...I am proud that my heritage comes partly from there.

I'm behind on my blog reading, but I did want to say that I too, love Our State Magazine. I look forward to it every month!!! I love stopping at the peach stands on the way back and forth to the beach. We have done that since I was a child. We haven't made peach ice cream yet this year, but it is one of my favorites. I enjoy stopping at antique/thrift shops too! Love & blessings from NC!
