I did that a few years ago. It makes it nice to find something now. Buy up all the photo boxes you can and then as you are sorting...throw away the out of focus and bad photos that you will never use in a photo album, etc. I am going to go through all my photos this year and do another purge because my children will not want to go through the thousands of photos I have kept especially the ones from years ago that are blurry etc. Good luck...keep us updated! What a sweet granddaughter you got to spoil last week. I'd have withdrawals too! We talked to our son and daughter on iChat this week for the first time and little Dylan who is one saw us and started clapping. Made my heart happy! We go see them in Colorado in May. Can't wait! So fun sharing your nonny moments with you! Connie

I have started this project more than once - thought I would file them in photo boxes but never finished. Then I thought I would scrapbook - didn't do that either. One of the reasons I started blogging was so I wouldn't have to scrapbook. So if you find a good method, please let me know.
I am so blessed to be able to see by dear grandson at least once a week. I drive by his house twice a day going and coming from work and have to control myself from pulling in. I know that as a young mother I would not have welcomed a daily visit from Granny.

I am slowly, but surely doing this too. I love to scrapbook and I did one of all my Christmas pictures from the year my husband and I got married until the year I did the book. I put it out each year at Christmas and it is so much fun to re-live all the past Christmas memories. It is so funny to see the hairdos over the years!!! I am going to do a book for each of my girls too at some point. I have also started working on a book of all our summer beach trips. Just tackle it a little at a time and it won't be that overwhelming. I sat for months and did nothing for sort and look at pictures. I organized them according to subject/child/etc
and sent from there. You can do it. I just realized that you were commenting on my blog, but I was not linked as a follower to your blog. I have been missing out on your blog. Your granddaughter is precious!!! Have a great weekend.
Love & blessings from NC!

I did this not too a couple of years ago. I got so frustrated with sorting by year, I ended up sorting by events. (#1's b'days, #2's b'days, xmas, ballet...) It helped me stick with it and finish. Now that we are digital, I am printing fewer pictures so I make photo books at the end of the year on Shutterfly. Kind of like "family yearbooks". They are very easy. I saw an article in the newspaper where you can send old photos and they will scan them and send you organized discs of the photos. It seemed to be reasonable, 1000 pictures for under a $100. We have a scanner but finding the time to scan all of the pictures is a whole other project. It would be so nice to be able to make photo books from all of those old photos, so I am considering giving it a try. I would love to here your method of sorting. Good luck.

You go girl! I did it a few years ago after I had to lug lots and lots of boxes of photos when we evacuated for Hurricane Ivan. I was NOT going to leave town without them. It taught me a lesson, so I divided them up before the next hurricane season and gave each of the children their photos. Why should I keep them...I want their children to enjoy them now. Of course, I kept some for myelf, just not all of them. It's a big job, but just wait and see how good you feel afterwards.

Good luck.

Hugs!
Kat

Oh my goodness... I have the same exact project (but I don't have an ambitious goal). I called my grandma Nonny when I was growing up. I love that name. : )
