A Weekend With The Girls

warning...lots of pics ahead!

Poppy and I spent this past weekend keeping the girls. Poppy was certainly out-numbered!

We had such a great time, even though both of the girls had been sick and weren't quite well.

They made their own cinnamon toast.....

........and cooked it by themselves.

Then they painted pictures.........

.................for my mom's 75th birthday!

Poppy painted toenails...

...........and the girls dressed for Nanny's party!

They did Poppy's hair....or lack of it :)

and celebrated HIS big day with cake at BREAKFAST!

But, their very FAVORITE thing to do was THIS:

We miss them already!
I'll bet they miss us too, don't you?

May You Have The Happiest Of Days!

This guy of mine has a birthday today.

How is it that the Lord knew just who I needed to be able to wish the happiest of days?

Not sure I can list 58 things here :),
but I want to list a few things about him that mean so much to me.

~He loves without reservation.
~He is one of the least judgmental people I know.
~He has amazing compassion for the young and the old.
~He can *figure out* almost anything.
~He has amazing patience.
~He can do almost anything he sets out to do.
~He is better to me than I deserve.
~He loves, man does he love, those grandbabies.
~He is very FAIR to people in our business.
~He supports the community.
~He loves Jesus.
~He loves our children(all six of them).
~He loves me.

Honey, 58 looks good on you.

May you have the happiest of days.

It Was JUST A Hotdog...................

Every Friday night, as the children grew up, we went to Zack's, a little *hotdog joint* to eat dinner. It was cheap and quick...the two things that are important when you have three hungry little ones. We did this for YEARS. So much so that the employees knew when we walked in what our order was.... and didn't even have to come ask us. As the kids got older, and ballgames, school dances and sleepovers began, the Friday night ritual slowly faded. I haven't really thought about it much in years.

Fast forward to last night. My daughter sent a family group text that they were eating in a restaurant beside a famous coach. There were lots of responses back and forth between us all. Lots. But the one that sticks out in my mind was this one from my oldest son...who now has a 15 month old son of his own.

"Just said that to K tonight!
I want Baby B to think about a certain food on Friday nights!
Ours is pizza. Every Friday night!
I remember Zack's when I was little like it was yesterday!!"

So glad I have this picture. This is what it says on the back:

And all this time.

I thought it was just a hot dog.........

Emotions!

Somebody did NOT want to say Happy Valentine's Day!

For Some People...Lots Of People, Valentine's Day Is Hard

If today finds you with a broken heart....for whatever reason, please know there is hope.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Psalms 34: 18-19

(I am having a great day, but, I am aware of many who are not.)

Gratitude

A few years ago during A *Women Of Faith Conference*, they realized about 300 more women showed up than they were expecting. The event coordinators scrambled to find folding chairs to put out for these women. A lot of the women were not happy about their seats and complained off and on all day. The keynote speaker that night was Joni Eareckson Tada. If you know about Joni, you know that she was injured years ago in a diving accident. She has been confined to a wheelchair ever since. As she spoke that night at the conference, she said, "I understand some of you don't like the chair in which you are sitting. Neither do I. But I have about a thousand handicapped friends who would gladly trade places with you in an instant."

I Am Reminded To Be Grateful

"Scott is a professional golfer who plays often at the Masters Golf Tournament, hosted by the Augusta National Golf Club. The course explodes in beauty. Groomers manicure the course as if she is a wedding-day bride. In describing the perfection to his caddie, Scott commented, " You won't see a single weed all week."  He was surprised when after walking the course for five days, his caddie pointed out to Scott "I found one!"  Don't we do the same? God's love sprouts all around us, but we go on weed hunts. How many flowers do we miss in the process? If we look long and hard enough, we will find something to complain about. STOP Looking."

I am reminded to BE GRATEFUL.

These, and other wonderful examples of gratitude, are found in Max Lucado's book
"Great Day Every Day"

  • Grateful for grace.
  • and the gift of family.
  • Hot water.
  • And cold water.
  • Water. (Yeh, I worked at Camp Lurecrest:))
  • Good health
  • Grandchildren
  • A dedicated husband.
  • Three children
  • And their spouses
What are YOU grateful for today?

Proud Of My Friend

Have you signed up to be a Bone Marrow Donor?
Have you ever thought about what it would mean if you or your child or your husband or your grandchild or your dear friend were hanging by a thread for his/her life?
Do you know that a lot of times what it takes to keep them alive is YOU being willing to donate?
Do you have any idea how simple it is?
A few years ago I sent off for a kit; swabbed my cheek;mailed it back in......that's all it takes.
To SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE.
That's what my dear friend is doing Monday.

In a simple, one day procedure, she is saving someone's life.
Proud of you my friend.

Check it out here

You would want someone to do it for you.

February Goals

One of my DIL's has inspired me.
She posted her goals for January and has accomplished lots of them!
(And she just had twin boys, so I should be able to do this.)

So, here are my February goals.

~Clean out coat closet in foyer.

~Eat fresh fruit every single day. I love it. Just need to make sure I do it.

~Stay downstairs at least one night a week until 9:00 p.m. (more on this later)

~Make/Bake something and take to two people this month.

~Make sure all January pictures are put in Shutterfly.

~Visit at least one place in *Our State* Magazine.

OK. I started small, but you have to start somewhere.

I will post at the end of this month with updates.

Who is in this with me?

Thomas Table and Cra*g's List

Baby B wanted a Thomas Table. Nonny and Poppy decided to go on Cra*g's list to find a used one in good condition. So, we contacted several people on Cra*g's list by email. We waited. And we waited. We never heard back.....from ANY of them. So, I emailed again. I finally heard back from one of them. She gave me her phone number. I called her and left a message. I waited. And waited. She finally called back and we bought her Thomas Table and accessories. But, good grief, people post things and don't answer. What's up with that? Maybe they sold the item and didn't delete it off Cra*g's list. Who knows? But, don't you think they might shoot a quick email and say this is sold?  Gees....it was a tiring experience. But, we got one and Baby B is on top of the world!
He loves it!

Can you tell he likes it?

How about you? Have you had any Cra*g's List experiences?

Sisters Becoming Friends

It took these sisters a while....but they are getting there. When A was born, EC was 25 months old. Not quite old enough to understand why this baby was here to stay. She was jealous but not old enough to verbalize it.
It was tough.

Now she teaches her things...Like how to do puzzles.

And pedal a tricycle.

Their mommy doesn't have a sister.
She wants, so much, for them to be close.
Nonny does too!

Made New Again

A year or two ago, a friend gave us two old tricycles for the littles. They sat in storage until December. The girls were here and I decided to get hubs to pull them out. I did not take a before picture :(, but they looked something like this:

(This is NOT one of my trikes.)

Nonny got resourceful. I went to Lowe* to buy Rustol*um paint. While there I asked a clerk if he knew what I could do about the rust on the handlebars, etc. He told me to spray WD40 on the rusted areas and use very fine steel wool to scrub. So, I did. I didn't do all rusted parts like you would if you were completely restoring something very old, but I did the visible parts. Then, I spray painted the body of the trikes.

THIS is what they look like now:
